It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the
VETERAN who
salutes the Flag,
It is the
VETERAN
who serves
under the Flag,
We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.
God Bless them all!

Calving Time!
It was calving weekend out at our family farm this weekend. The whole darn family gathered into the farm house for the weekend anxiously awaiting the birth of several, if not many, new baby calves. We were off to a good start when 10 minutes after Daren and I showed up I spotted baby #1!
I am still so proud that I spotted our first calf ever.
Then we waited.
And waited.
And waited. Either by the window in the living room, bathroom or office with the binoculars or from the Kabota out in the field.
Those dear ladies left us waiting all weekend long. As my six year old nephew Connor put it, "These cows have had like 23 million subtractions with just the one baby!"
Finally, after I had us running out to the fields on a false alarm Daren spotted Mama #7 just as she was about to deliver her baby. We rounded up the everyone who was out there and all got to witness baby boy #7A come into this world. We were a big line of cameras and binoculars at the fence line for the full hour. It was a nice reward after "staring at cow butts" ,as my nephew Levi put it, for so many hours waiting on our calves.
Hopefully by the end of the week we have all of our babies running around the fields.
